Green Certifications

The TacomaACTS certification program is currently in its pilot year. Our ten TacomaACTS “pioneers” come from a wide range of sizes and sectors; everything from a major, multi-facility health care organization to a trendy local restaurant is represented. These businesses are working hard to evaluate their greenhouse gas emissions and complete a comprehensive audit of their ecological impact. Armed with this data, they are working in concert with TacomaACTS to improve purchasing efficiency, reduce waste production, and minimize their contribution to costly ecological problems in the community. More importantly, they are blazing a path for other Pierce County businesses to follow as we develop sector-specific benchmarks for excellence in triple-bottom line performance.

Additionally, our participants are working diligently to catalog this process, allowing TacomaACTS to aggregate cost-benefit data on ecological auditing. Their conscientious and detailed reports on their experience of the certification process will allow TacomaACTS to improve the process and provide fact-based advocacy for ‘green’ and ‘greening’ businesses.
